Trick or Treat 2011

Some of you know, I am not thrilled with Halloween or trick or treating, but it is something my husband's family is very big into so the girls do it, quite enthusiastically.  And they are cute.  This year they both wanted to be dogs.  But then Pilly was wearing her Minnie Mouse costume around the house and decided to be that since this is the only year it will fit.  Pnut got very specific and wanted to be a poodle.  LB had no choice and was Batman as that is the pair of pajamas he has.  So enjoy some pictures!

My MIL came up to go trick or treating with the girls, which they enjoyed quite a bit!  We went with some friends, and when we left their house, Landon still hadn't agreed to take off his Elmo costume:)

I have a knitting problem

So today at homeschool group, I did my best not to monopolize the knitting teacher the entire time, but it was hard.  I have so many questions and am finding that I am slightly addicted to it and want to be doing it all the time.  If I have a spare few moments, I'll sit down and even just knit one row.  It is just so fun to make something with my hands!  I still enjoy sewing, but there is something about dong it more directly with my hands.  I do enjoy working with my hands, and if we had power tools, I would probably build some things, if I could figure out the math part of it.  Anyways, back to the knitting, Susana asked me to come to her knitting guild with her!  I can't go in November, but I told her I could in December, and I am really excited/terrified/intimidated.  These people have been knitting for a very long time!  The knit for charity so I'm not sure what I will work on as my current level of expertise is a washcloth.  Maybe a baby blanket?  They are relatively easy, I'm sure.  Anyways, I'm excited that she asked me.  I think she did because I'm just so excited about knitting!

When I think of a guild, I think of knights.  Would someone like to explain this to me?  Did knights belong to a guild? 

I haven't posted a single picture of the Cutest Baby in the Whole World lately, but I will try to remedy that Monday.  He has been especially cute and crazy lately.  He likes to crawl around in a circle until he is dizzy and falls over, probably because we think it is so funny.  He also walked all the way from the living room to the kitchen.  He is basically walking everywhere.  Sniff, sniff.  He's so big.  And he is trying to give up nursing.  I think we are going to be down to once a day in the morning now.  He just gave up the middle of the day feeding late last week, and now he is crying every time I try to feed him at night.  He just wants to get down and go.  I'm not ready for this!

Pnut was full of information after homeschool group today about everything she learned, which is lots of fun.  And what I learned from Pilly was that her friend Mary Francis wasn't there so she didn't play with anyone.  And then it came out that she did play with Deborah, but it was quite tragic that Mary Francis wasn't there.  We even have a spotty puppy named after Mary Francis.

Well, it is almost time for TV night.  Have a great weekend!

Matching is Overrated!

Pnut and Pilly both dress themselves every day.  I merely get down a dress if they want it or whatever.  I do exercise some control over what they wear to church, but other than that, they pretty much pick it and wear it (much to the dismay of my mother and sister).  I have to put this picture of them up as Pilly's outfit is really quite colorful!  (It is extremely hard to get a non-cheesy picture of them.)

It is hard to tell from the picture, but Pilly's shirt actually was striped too.  It was an amazing outfit.

I also finished my second knitted washcloth tonight, which was exciting.  I am enjoying actually making things in knitting.  This one is slightly more square than the other one.

I don't know what I do with the rest of the yarn now.  I don't think there is enough to make another washcloth, and what do you knit that is smaller than a washcloth?!  I emailed the lady who is teaching me to ask about a hat next.  I hope that I can make one, but I'm not sure if I am up to it yet! 

So now I have to go fold some clothes and read the rest of my chapter for Bible study tomorrow night.  Exercising self control can be so hard!

Jump and Twirl

Pumpkin Pancakes

The kids and I really enjoyed these pancakes.  We tried chocolate chips in them, but I liked them more without them, especially with maple syrup on!

1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix milk, pumpkin, egg, oil, and vinegar in a bowl.  In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients.  Stir dry ingredients into pumpkin mix and combine until just mixed.  Don't over-mix.  Cook!

Saturday Soccer

On Saturday, we went and watched my nephew, who is 6, play soccer.  It was extremely cute!

He looks so grown up!

It was quite entertaining to watch them all run around! 

It was really windy, which wasn't very fun.  It made it a lot colder than the sun made it look like.  LB rolled down a hill as he was crawling, which was very funny.  I think he only has one or two more weekends of soccer so we won't be going to anymore this year.  Maybe in the spring!
