Isn't That Just Like a Man

This morning, the girls and I went nice and early for my one-hour glucose test.  Except that they checked the glucose box but not which test.  So we waited for quite a long time (at least 10 minutes:P), while the front desk person tried to get someone "official" to say that I was to have it.  Eventually she was sent to voice mail.  Thankfully, we were at the lab that is right across from one office of my doctor so we walked over and got it checked off within a minute of sitting down.  We trecked back across the parking lot and I drank the evil syrup.  The girls did so well playing with games and books and toys that I had brought along, but I don't think they will be going to the longer test if I fail.  I think one hour might be the limit!  I've got another nice little bruise to show for my blood work too.  Oh, and the lady at the front desk told me she thinks a man came up with the syrup because they don't have to drink them!

After that, we went to the "Monster Playground" and played for about an hour, had a picnic, and played for a little more.  They were pretty tired at naptime!  I was really tired at naptime!!

In other news, yesterday Pnut had a tick on her after softball.  Thankfully they hve to get a bath so I found it, and Joel squeezed him off with some tweezers.  He was really holding on tight!  I've never even seen one before!  My dad would get them walking in the woods, but I never saw one.  Nasty little buggers!

We have an appointment tomorrow, which is the first day of July.  I forgot about it.  I haven't done the new months' dry erase calender yet so I didn't remember.  Thank goodness they call to remind everyone! 

Now I've got to go fold clothes because this was such a busy day that I didn't have time.  This is a busy week in general!

Our New Schedule

We started our new schedule today.  Once we started going to the playground more, we kind of got into the habit of just twittering away our mornings and sometimes they really dragged on because no one had anything to do.  So here is the new schedule:
8-9 Playground
9-9:15 Bible and prayer time
9:15-10:00 Free play, I hang clothes and do other little chores
10-10:30 art time
10:30-11 school
11-11:30 lunch
11:30-12:00 or 12:15 dishes for me, play time for girls
12:15-12:30 reading
12:30 bed for Pilly

I couldn't believe how quickly the morning went, and the girls really slept well at naptime and were pleasant the whole morning because they weren't bored and didn't have much down time.  Lovely!  It's nice that playground time is so early because if it rains, there isn't that much time to fill up and it really isn't an awkward time. 

So that is what I am excited about right now.  Well, that, and the fact that we had corn on the cob with our supper tonight.  Mmmm.  We had three ears left, and I cut them off and froze them, and now, of course, I wish I could eat another one.  Let's hope this doesn't turn into mashed potatoes and sauerkraut!

Joel is trying to find a wire to connect the camera to the computer instead of using the SD card so hopefully it will be soon, but I don't know!  Blogging without pictures just isn't as much fun...

Nothing

There's not much to report tonight.  We left for the playground before 8:00 and were back around 9:00.  When we left, it was already 85 degrees.  Yuck-o.  Then we had a crazy thunderstorm this afternoon, but thankfully the girls weren't scared because Curious George was occupying them. 

My craving for mashed potatoes and sauerkraut has given me a bellyache because I might have enjoyed a little too much sauerkraut today for lunch.  I sadly finished off the potatoes but not the sauerkraut so I think I might have to make more tomorrow!

See, just listen to me, there isn't anything to tell today.  It was rather a slow day I guess.  Maybe I will have something more interesting on Monday!

Cravings

So my craving with this baby is mashed potatoes and sauerkraut.  Aren't cravings weird?  I've never had a craving with the other two, usually just things I didn't want to eat.  With Pnut, it was hamburger and cheese.  I love hamburgers so that was really weird.  With Pilly, I didn't mind anything I don't think.

Pilly told me last night when we were getting ready for bed, "My sister is beautiful."  Such sweet girls!  They played really nicely today.  They have started to play house, and they played in their room for an hour and a half.  I love it!

We discovered that the birds aren't on our roof, they are in it.  There are these holes at the top of our house, five of them.  Four of them are covered by decorative covers and one is not.  So the little pests are in there with their nest and they gross little babies scratching their feet and tweeting over my head.  As soon as they are gone, something has got to be done about that hole!

It's not as much fun to post when I can't put up new pictures.  It is also aggravating because I save all the pictures on the computer so I can't delete anything off of the camera.  I need to remind Joel to check this out.

Any tips on beating the heat?

Another Bird

I love this kid...you know why?  She doesn't tell me that she doesn't like her supper before she even knows what we are having.  That Pnut walks into the kitchen today after nap and says "I don't like what we are having for supper."  "What are we having?"  "I don't know."  It was chicken casserole with ritz crackers, and she ate it all (after she was threatened with not going in the swimming pool).  What a nut!  (I love her too, though!)

We had a very busy weekend, I"m thankful that this weekend isn't looking too crazy.  We had Mom's Group at the nursing home today and Joel has one game this week, but other than that, we are just doing our normal, everyday things!  Yay!  Last week had something every single day and most evenings too. 

Here is a link to the casserole I made.  Joel was away so we tried it.  I enjoyed it, but there is one I think I would like better with more sour cream in.

That Pilly, even though she is good about eating, has been very naughty and heart attack-inudcing lately.  She has started jumping from the back porch into the swimming pool.  The pool is a couple of feet away.  One of these days she is going to get hurt! 

We had a bird in the bathroom this weekend.  I woke up on Sunday morning and it was scritching over my head when I went in.  I raced in and woke Joel up!  What a wake up on Fathers' Day!  Eventually he got it out of the closet and it flew out the open window.  They come down the chimney and get stuck, and I think they have a nest right up there by the chimney because I can hear them.  I do not like birds!

Well, Joel is giving guitar lessons and I am going to try to get some work done!  Lovely evening to you all!

Sometimes I Can't Come Up With a Title

I don't even know what to write about tonight.  Today turned into a busier day than it was going to be because a friend called last night to ask if the girls and I could come over and watch her four girls because today was her husband's birthday.  She hadn't realized what day it was!  Hahahaha.  Anyways, we went there, and we all got really worn out but no one took very good naps, there was a problem with our internet for a while so I couldn't work much, we had softball at the dustiest field, and there were just a lot of little things thrown in there as well!  Joel's team won the game, which I think surprised the other team so it was exciting, but we were all so dusty and tired we just wanted to go home.  And I had to go to the bathroom.  I try to avoid using the porta-potties if I can!

I'm thinking about sewing something again.  We'll see if it progresses beyond the thinking stage.

Pilly was cute this afternoon.  She was trying to tell me something from the other room and I couldn't tell what she was saying so she finally came out with a mitten on her hand saying "cooking club" and she pretended to take something hot out of the oven!  We just had cooking club yesterday if I didn't mention it. 

Tomorrow we are going to someone else's house, there is a softball game, and Carolyn and I are finally getting to go out after the game!  Looks like another busy day!

Pnut's Terrible Experience

Our computer is being uncooperative and doesn't want to read the drives so I can't currently load any pictures onto the computer.  Who knows what that is about!

We had a Terrible Experience today.  Pnut got stung by a bee.  We were walking home from the playground, and she put her hand on a railing to come down some steps.  As she was sliding it, she slid it onto a bee that was on the railing.  He stung her right on her palm.  Poor little girl!  I've only ever been stung once, and I don't want to experience it again!

I was wiped out by nap time today.  I don't seem to be getting over the tiredness very well!  I think the sun really drains a lot of energy from me so even if we go early at 8:30 before it gets hot, I still get really tired!

We got free Rita's tonight.  If you are local, they are giving it away on Manheim Pike again tomorrow!  I had the Island Fusion flavor-yum-o!  The girls had a Peeps ice.  Gross!  It was so sugary!

Well, Joel and I are going to watch a movie as soon as he is finished with Peggle:)  Have a lovely evening!

Blood Work

Bright and early this morning I took the girls and had to get blood work done.  They did really well and sat and colored nicely and played with their babies while we waited for my name to be called.  They were a little concerned about what the nurse was doing, but they soon forgot that when another nurse gave them a box of stickers.  Pilly took three!  I don't know why the nurse let them have the whole box!  Maybe she is not familiar with the ways of greedy children! 

When the nurse poked my arm, it really pinched, and it pinched the whole time it was in there.  She finally took it off after a good amount of time had passed and informed me that that vein was not working well.  We had to try my other arm.  Thankfully, the sticker went right in and didn't really hurt while she was taking blood, only when she changed vials.  There were eight vials.  That is a lot of blood.  I was really tired this afternoon!

The girls were excited because we went to the "Monster Playground" after that and played for about an hour and then we came home and got our books and went to the library.  They had a good morning!

Now Joel is off teaching his guitar lesson to his class of 24 and I am going to be relaxing.  I got some new books at the library, but I think I'll do a few rounds of Peggle first:)

An Exciting Win

Whew!  Joel's softball team just beat the best team in the league!!  For those of you local, that would be FBF!!!  They were rather ecstatic:)  Joel is really funny...slightly superstitious.  He thinks we need to have the same supper tomorrow night that we had tonight.  He always chews the same kind of gum every game.  I think there are several other things that he does.  And the other guys on the team are like that too!

In other news, Cheryl watched the girls for me while I went to my first "real" doctor appointment today.  Everything went well and the baby's heart was beating nicely.  We can go find out whether it is a boy or girl in 5-7 weeks!  That isn't long at all:) 

Well, I have to give two dirt balls baths now.  They were playing in a big sand pit and certainly can't go to bed like that!

Rainy Day Fun:)

Today, it was a rainy day and we had to stay inside.  It was kind of nice just to play and not feel like we had to go anywhere.  However, we couldn't survive many days like that!  The girls were playing quite nicely in the basement while I got stuff done upstairs.  Too soon, they came upstairs.  They had seen a bug in the basement.  Pilly wouldn't go back down at all unless I was coming too.

The bug was "this big!"

Pnut fed me all sorts of concotions and treats while I was downstairs with them.  They are cute:)

I won't tell you about the trouble this kid caused today...just know that goldfish smashed up in OJ is not cool.

The Naughtiness of Pilly

I've been very lax about taking pictures lately.  I should have taken one of Pilly before her bath because she drew a black mustache on herself while we were at softball.

Pilly has had an eventful (read naughty) day.  Pnut woke her up from her nap, and she never went back to sleep.  She came down early, and pretty much talked then entire hour and a half until Pnut got up.  And she wanted something every two minutes.  Now, I do love to hear her talk, but nap time is when I am supposed to be working so chattering children aren't really what I want.  We have these connecting blocks that are for math...there are 100 of them in 10 sticks of 10.  She took all 100 apart and couldn't put them back together.  Then she went to the table and dumped out two identical puzzles that they had receieved at Maddie's birthday party into one pile.  I caught her licking the salt shaker like an ice cream cone, and she dumped beads from her bracelet that she made at Maddie's party (which had broken) all over the floor.  And that gives you an idea of how our afternoon went.

Alright, so it has been a pretty stressful day and I am ready to go relax and play some Mario and Luigi!  I'll try to take more pictures!

Strawberry Muffins

Joel is giving guitar lessons at church tonight so I am home alone with the girls.  It is 7:10, and they are in bed!  They usually are between 7:15-7:30 anyways, but still, it is nice to have a whole evening to enjoy quietly. 

This weekend, I made strawberry muffins, and we enjoyed them quite a bit!  The girls love strawberries and pretty much anything that contains strawberries:)

1/4 c canola oil
1/2 c milk
1 egg
1/2 t vanilla
1/2 t salt
2 t baking powder
1/2 c sugar
1 3/4 c flour
1 c chopped strawberries (chop about an hour before so that they aren't quite as juicy when mixing)
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 c brown sugar

1. Preheat oven to 375.  Line or oilmuffin tins
2.  In a small bowl, combine all of the wet ingredient and beat lightly.  In a separate, larger bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients except the strawberries.  Stir until well mixed and then gently mix in the strawberries until well coated.  Pour in wet mix and stir together.
3.  Fill muffin cups.  Bake for about 25 minutes and cool for 10 before removing from pan.

This is a recipe that is best mixed by hand.  The strawberries would probably get damaged with a mixer.  I made 3 large muffins and then a tray of 24 mini muffins for a snack at church.  The recipe said it only makes 8, but I would venture to guess that you would get more large muffins that that out of this!

Normal Day

I can't believe that it is already Thursday evening.  We had a lovely, unbusy day today with no real plans except our daily activities!  Yay!  We went to the playground at 8:00 this morning to beat the heat, and much to my surprise, there was actually someone else there for the same reason.  Usually if we go that early, we don't see anyone.  The girls got to play in the pool this afternoon after nap, and they were both nice and hungry and devoured their spaghetti, which sometimes is difficulty for Pnut.  Pilly actually had two bowls!

Pnut developed a rash this afternoon after nap.  If you recall, she had one last year.  It is starting out exactly the same way so I am afraid that tomorrow she will have swelling.  I gave her Benadryl tonight before bed because it was starting to itch.  I don't want to take her to the doctor for it, though, because they don't solve the problem.  They just put her on allergy medicine and never figure out what is causing it.  I don't know if they might this time since it is happening exactly the same way a year later, but I hate to even go.  We won't be going to the playground because it is cleaning day so we'll see if that helps.  I'm not sure if there is something that is blooming now that triggers it or what.  It is weird that it would change from yesterday to today though. 

I'm reading Little Women, and I love it.  I read an abbreviated version when I was a teenager, and I wanted to read the whole thing.  It is so well written!  I'm so glad we went to the library the other day:)

Fun with a Friend

Today I had three little girls that played together so very nicely!  Our friend Regan came over to play with the girls, and they just had so much fun!  Regs is a sweet little girl, and all three of them play nicely together.  Heather said that Regan took an awesome nap this afternoon too, so that is great!  They went to the playground and played in the sprinkler and the pool and were generally just silly!

Pregnancy update:  I'm hot.  I've never really had a hard time with heat before when I was pregnant, but this time I'm just really hot!  We've had pretty weird weather so far this year, with it swinging from freezing cold to super-hot without too much of a transition so I think that plays into it as well.  I certainly was not eased into the heat this year.

Sewing update:  I fixed a hole in Joel's pants...that is a step in the right direction, right?!  I just have no motivation for projects!  I don't want to do anything except lay around in the evenings!  Joel thinks I'm quite lazy:P  I don't see him doing much either ;)

Pool Day

These are pictures from our pool party last Thursday with my niece and nephew.  It was really an all-day party for them!

Little Miss Laine was so cute with her curls...she didn't last as long as the other children in the cold water:)

Pnut had a ball, as per the norm.  She loves water!

And here we have the ghost child who looks like he rarely sees the sun:)  He also had a blast!

Miss Pilly loved the squeezy balls that would fill up wtih water.  She even squished them on her own head.

This is an example of how Pilly lives in her own worls.  Anthony and Pnut are racing around the outside, splashing and carrying on, and Pilly is just standing in the middle dumping water from one cup to another, totally oblivious to anything happening around her!

They would periodically jump out and run around the yard to warm up.  This was after everyone was done, though.  The girls loved Anthony and Laine's special towels!
