A Picnic Sort of Day

We were able to go to the playground and have a picnic today, complete with freshly made M&M cookies that the girls made with me.  They had a blast and even talked to and played with a little girl who was there when we first got there.  Quite shocking, I know!

Pnut ate her food quickly to get her cookie.

Pilly dawdled and laid on the grass and ate her food much more slowly.  That's alright, it is a picnic!

LB tried to steal my food.  I think he was trying to create an allergy to peanut butter because he knows the girls eat it every day.

It is fun to come to this playground because they do more climbing and there is barely ever anyone else there.

They race all over the place and get pretty worn out, which is always good.

Isn't his hair so funny?  He is ready to race around, just needs to gain some stability!

So after our nice morning, the afternoon didn't go quite as well.  First of all, the girls didn't take a nap.  They know in doing so they don't get to watch Strawberry Shortcake the next day and have to go for nap a little earlier.  They need a nap!  They are so tired if they don't have one!  So anyways, they were playing in their room instead of sleeping when Pnut came downstairs and said, "Pilly swallowed a bead and it is horrible."  I raced up the stairs.  I was sure I would find her blue and not breathing.  I couldn't even find her!  I was yelling her name and looking all over the room.  She was hiding under her covers and cried when she came out.  I think I panicked her.  I was so relieved I just laughed.  I told her that we had been telling her not to put things in her mouth.  Then I called the doctor just to make sure that she shouldn't go in for x-rays, but they said no.  Just watch her to make sure she doesn't get a fever or constipated. 

I hope tomorrow is less eventful!

What a busy, busy weekend.  The kids and I went back to where I grew up and got together with both sides of my family.  We also went on a picnic at a playground with a high school friend.  They all had a ball.  Pnut's allergies went crazy, and apparently LB has allergies too.  He is looking better now that we are back here, but his eyes were running like crazy there.

So we are spending a few days catching up on rest and routine.  Today went well, but the kids are still tired.  Allergies really can take a lot out of you, but Pnut was just a mess tonight.  She was crying about all sorts of stuff and was just not herself.  She needs more rest! 

So now I'm going to go eat my nightly ration of Oreos and relax!

Going Back To Where I Came From

The children and I are going back to where I grew up this weekend.  Joel has things going on, and besides, he thinks it is boring there.  I am excited to go because I haven't been there in over a year.  I had a wonderful childhood, and while I know so many things have changed, quick visits still make it seem ideal.  Pnut is excited because we are going to a "new" church.  New to her anyways.  I'm surprised she is excited since she loves her Sunday School teacher and hates new places that she has to go without her parents.  Maybe having her cousins there is helping her cope.

This makes either the third or fourth time I have been away from Joel in our entire marriage (almost 6 years).  We don't spend time apart overnight often, for which I am thankful.  It is hard for me to leave him.  I'm such a wimp.  I'll also be driving, which I'm not thrilled with.  I don't really enjoy driving, let alone 2 hours.  At least Randa and I will be meeting up and going together part of the way.

LB has officially tried carrots, and last night he didn't think they were that great.  However, he ate all that I had portioned out for him tonight, the first time he has done that since he started food Sunday night.  So that is a good sign, right?  I kind of think I could stop and wait a little while longer, but I don't know.  I don't think he cares!  Oh babies, they are so confusing.

Next Friday is the homeschool conference where I will be checking out curriculum.  I pretty much know what I am getting for next year, but it'll be fun to look.  I love this kind of stuff!  It's as good as getting to go to an office supply store (HA!).

Some Faces I Love

Bendaroos

My aunt and uncle got the girls Bendaroos for Christmas.  Very interesting.  And sticky.  Monday was the first time we actually made something with them other than just twisting them.  Pnut made the tiger, and Pilly and I collaborated on the turtle.  She did the yellow decorating.

They are pretty neat but a little tricky for someone very small to figure out.  Pilly just couldn'tn figure out how to start it and keep it going tightly.  Pnut did great with them.  A fun project if you need something to do!

First Food

I can't even believe it, but LB had his first food last night.  He is just so hungry and is waking up a lot at night.  I wanted to wait until he was 6 months old, but he is just not making it.  And he really seems ready.  He drinks water out of my cup and out of a sippy cup (sort of).  He does better with the water out of my cup.  He had some peas for his first time.  He was not impressed.

 Here we go...

 Um, I'm not so sure about that.

I'm concerned, you're not coming back again with another spoonful of that stuff are you?

Aaah!  No more!

And tonight he wore his favorite bib, which I just needed to share, gifted by his Auntie Randa:)
