Complex...As in, I might have one soon.

Today was a better day than yesterday for the obedience, I think partly owing the fact that I did not work after the girls were up and Curious George was over. They would rather if I did nothing but pay attention to them! We went to the playground, which was all wet and more than soaked the towel we had brought along. We had a good time anyways. As we were walking across the college campus back to our house, we were stopped by a maintenance employee. He was a friendly older man whose daughter is due with her second baby next week. I think he is slightly excited.:) Anyways, he wanted to know whose children the girls were. I said mine. I should have asked him how old he thought I was. Honest to goodness, if I don't get a complex, it will be a miracle!

I folded four loads of laundry tonight and watched two episodes of Monty Python so that it can go back to the library. That laundry catches up with me awful fast!

I have all sorts of projects that will be started shortly. I first need to prewash the material. In case you were wondering, I hate prewashing. Then you must iron. I can never get it quite flat.

I am in utter amazement that you are still reading the whole way to the end. Hopefully, I can be interesting tomorrow!

Tonight Is Break Night

I have almost completed a new pair of pajama pants for myself, and I could finish them tonight. But I'm not going to!

Obedience from small children was not what it should have been today so I need a break! It is not outright defiance, just not instance obedience either. I will run the whole way around the circle to the other side the stairs before I go up. That kind of obedience. That is tiring. I want them to obey right away. If they are running out into the road, I want them to run right back when I say come, not run up and down the street first! Each day is different, and usually they do well for the most part most days, but they do like to test boundaries!!

I have two things that I meant to write about yesterday and forgot:

1. Friday, Pnut and I "sewed" and colored together, and she said to me, "Mom, this was fun. I like sewing and coloring with you. We should do it again soon because you are my sweetest Mommy." I'm pretty sure that she is the sweetest three year old ever!

2. Friday evening while out with Carolyn, we visited that lovely establishment Friendly's to satisfy our salt and sweet cravings. It should be noted that Carolyn is about six feet tall and I am only five three. We walk in, and the waitress asks how many. Carolyn says just two, and the waitress asks "Do you need a children's menu?" I start looking around to see if a child followed us in or something. Then I look up and realize that she means me. Honest to goodness! A few weeks ago when the guy on the street thought I was 16, I wasn't too offended. My hair was in pigtails that day and I know that I do look young. But really? A children's menu? They end at age 12!! Carolyn thinks that her height compared to my height made me look younger, but 12? Ha! I still laugh whenever I think about it:)

Now I need to go make a hard decision...oreos or ice cream! Have a lovely evening!

New Dress!

I finished my dress on Friday. It is amazing what a little patience will do... I wore it yesterday, and it was so cool and nice on that hot day! However, we got caught in a rainstorm and hadn't gotten a picture before that and didn't want one after that! So I took a picture today of it hanging out on the line:)



It would be better if I was wearing it so you could tell the shape more...but I don't really like having my picture taken. Usually I manage to close my eyes halfway or look cross-eyed through my glasses or something like that!



Joel picked out the material. He is exceptionally good at picking out flattering things for me:)

I went to JoAnn's tonight to get some material for some new projects. That is always dangerous! I got material for a different dress and bought the things I need for my pay it forward that is coming up very quickly! It is amazing how much a trip to JoAnn's can cost!! I am glad I don't go very often:)

Jackie and Cheryl came over today for some carbonara and chocolate pots de creme. We had so much fun and will be starting a monthly cooking club. We are going to take turns making lunches for each other that our picky husbands won't eat. I am so excited to try all the new foods:)

I am ready to get started on some projects now! Have a wonderful evening:)

Almost Finished!

I have almost completed the dress I started tonight! I only have to hem the bottom, and it would be done. However, I am not pleased with the way the top turned out, so I am going to rip out the collar and do it a different way than the instructions say and hope it works. It is too bunchy and that is not how it looks in the picture!

Don't worry, about halfway through, he woke up and tormented me. He stole my pins! Thankfully, Joel caught him or he might have eaten one!



He is not so innocent as he looks! Now he is racing laps around waiting for me to take him upstairs.

The girls and I spent the day at home instead of going to the playground. It was rather gloomy and had rained last night so I thought today was a lovely day for staying at home! We made oatmeal cookies and played in the basement and later outside when the sun came out. It was a beautiful day! The temperature was only supposed to reach 80 and there was virtually no humidity!! Tomorrow is to be the same. :)

After her nap while Pilly still slept, Pnut and I "sewed." We have some lacing things, and she had so much fun. I want to find some tiny embroidery hoops and let her sew with those just poking the needle in and out of fabric. I know she would love it!

Two New Sewing Books!

This is an example of how to eat your lunch when you are tired. Simply lay your head down on your arm and munch away!

My sewing books came today finally! Oh Amazon, you great tormentor! The last time I ordered something from Amazon, it came the very next day! This time I ordered on July 30 and it took until August 5. I was checking the progress at least three times a day...I am excited about these books!! I bought this book, and I already have the material for one of the dresses, which I am going to start cutting out the pattern tonight while I was Japanese Gameshow. I also bought this book, and I already got some pillowcases tonight at the thrift store! Joel said we can go to the thrift store in Baltimore because there aren't Amish there to buy up all of the good pillowcases!

I only have four minutes to gather my snack, book, and scissors. Have a great night!

Some more summer fun

According to the forecast, today was supposed to be just about the hottest day of the year yet. It was warm, but previous summers have been so much worse. I am really enjoying this wave of cool air from Canada keeping things lovely here this year! Go Canada:)

We did use the pool today, twice. After lunch and then again after nap. We ate some ice cream outside after lunch so that they could get in the pool and wash it all off.



Mainly so she could wash it off!



Someone had better teach this child that driving into bodies of water is inadvisable. I know just the person. Someone who tried to drive her car through a large puddle across a road and got stuck.



Here I really just wanted you all to see Pilly's pretty new pink swimming suit. New to her. I love the color! And the ruffle:)



Would you believe that up until the camera actually took the picture she actually had a pretty smile on her face and looked beautiful. I don't know what happened or why the camera snapped at this moment.

Perhaps I should open a manner's school soon...

I need to iron my material for my dress I am going to make if my new book ever gets here. I think the heat of summer sucks out my energy in the evenings. If I could work during naptime, I would probably have all sorts of projects completed! Alas, I have to do real work.

I finished Anne of Green Gables this evening. This series is probably my favorite of all times. I have read through the entire thing so many times, and I never get tired of it! It is amazing to me that someone from so long ago is so relatable still! It just speaks of her genius!

Weekend Catch-Up

Joel and I got our overnight alone, despite the attempted sabotage of a sick child. Thankfully, Pilly was well enough to be held by her Gramma instead of her Mama, and they went to my parents. And they had fun! Pnut was so excited to go and had a lot of fun while she was there. We went to Carraba's and enjoyed some delicious food and then ended up watching the British comedy Spaced all evening. We were going to play mini golf, but it poured. I was going to suggest that we play after church teh next day, and it poured then too so.... I am looking forward to being able to do it again some time. I think three years might be a little bit of a long wait!

The girls did not have a nap yesterday at my parents' because they fell asleep in the car for 10 minutes so I decided to keep them home today from Mom's Group. I missed going, but it was worth them having a nap this afternoon. Pnut slept in her underwear and did not have an accident! And she took a three hour nap! Pilly is having a little trouble sleeping. We forgot Penguin at Gramma and Pap's house. We have an extra penguin, one that is brand new, but she is not fooled by him. She always sucks on Penguin's nose (gross, huh?!), and she won't suck on New Penguin. Yay! I am hoping this breaks her of it. I haven't been sure what to do because we took Pnut's pacifier away when she turned one and that was the end of it. Pilly didn't start this bad habit until she was about 12 or 13 months! So hopefully this will take care of it!

Tonight, they had a special treat of ice cream cones (thanks Miss Jackie!). They love cones!!



I think we probably wouldn't have to put any ice cream in them and they would still be happy.



For some reason, an upside down, empty swimming poor is tons of fun. They were playing in "sand" and making castles and being super silly!



I went inside to do the dishes and some picture silliness ensued.



Can you believe the face on that kid? If it makes you feel better, she went inside for a bath right after this.



Lovely.

They are wearing matching shirts bought by their Daddy at Target yesterday that say "Dad's my superhero." They were cute!
