Time Out-Maybe

Tonight, Joel and a friend of ours are going to wipe our computer clean so that maybe I will be able to get back to work soon.  So I'm not sure if they will finish tonight or tomorrow night and I might not be able to get on here for a day!  Oh goodness!  So if that is the case, have a great weekend!

Disney On Ice

Last Thursday we took the girls to Disney Princesses on Ice.  We got a good deal on tickets from a community pass.  They, of course, loved it!

Pilly was most excited about Mickey and Minnie Mouse because they are pretty much the only ones she recognized out on the ice.

Pnut was excited about everybody.  She didn't know who Mulan was, but other than that, I think she knew them all!

She loves Princess Jasmine.  Aside from Cinderella, I think it is actually the only princess movie she has seen.

They put on a good show, and Pnut danced in her seat almost the entire time trying to imitate what they were doing.

It was hard to get good pictures because everyone is moving around so much.  Thank goodness the Dwarves held still for a moment!

It was so exciting to be able to do something so special with them.  Princesses on Ice is what they are playing a lot right now!

Happy Apple Cake

Make this and you too will be happy:)

Bake at 350 for one hour
Grease and sprinkle sugar generously in a bundt pan (this makes the outside delicious and crunchy).

2 c flour
2 c sugar
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t salt
1 t baking soda
4 c peeled and chopped apples
1 c oil
2 large eggs, beaten
1 t vanilla

Mix with large spoon until smooth and pour into pan and bake.  Let cool for 15-20 minutes and then flip onto plate.  Try not to eat all at once.

This cake is so good!  It is always moist and yummy.  My MIL told me tonight that she does 1/2 c white sugar and 1.5 c brown sugar.  Maybe I can make it again soon and compare the taste.  In any case, I'm pretty sure it is hard to mess up.  I made mine in a silicone pan (thanks Jackie), and I had to lengthen the baking time a little.  I'm not sure if it was related to the silicone, but I think I have had to adjust the time with those pans before.  Regardless, don't be afraid to lengthen the cooking time until your fork comes out clean:)

Colors!

Because it is blistering hot here for April, we played with water this afternoon!

Pnut learned about which colors make other colors.

This was a neat way to help her learn.

I don't think she has it down yet, but we can easily do this again.

This comes out much clearer than markers on paper!

She was disappointed we didn't make pink...

And I was really glad that we did it before Pilly got up!

They were so cute when Pilly got up...Pnut said "Oh Pilly, I love your stripey swimming suit...Do you like my ladybug?"

He is looking for a cat that was under the porch when we came out!

The Science Center

Last Friday, we went to the Science Center where Joel's mom and brother live.  His company buys passes to it so we were all able to go for only $11.95, which was great!  Pilly is still free:)  The girls really had a great time, we found FREE parking (!), and the adults also had fun!

We started out in the dinosaur section, and I'm pretty sure the girls would have stayed there the entire time if they could! 

This tornado was neat!  Joel's mom loves The Wizard of Oz so it was appropriate:)

Joel had even more fun than the girls!  I always knew he was a nerd...we had to wait for him to check out each and every exhibit while everyone else was ready to move on to the next room!

It certainly wasn't the most comfortable thing I ever laid on!

The last section was a large room with children ages 2-5 (I think) in mind.  The girls loved it.  We probably should have started out there.  Once they discovered the water, they didn't want to do anything else.  Pilly was pretty much soaked by the time we left!

The Science Center was really neat, and I think it will make a great field trip when they are older!  It is so fun to be able to do things like this together as a family!

Our Easter Post

Like almost every other person in bloggyland, I am doing my Easter Post tonight!  I have pictures that are just too cute not to share.

We don't give the girls baskets or tell them about the Easter bunny or anything like that.  I would like to keep Easter a little more simple here at home than Christmas can be.  Besides, they get enough candy from everyone else that we really don't need to contribute!  (BTW  Mom...thanks for the sour gummy worms...the girls can't handle them, but I love them!)

We asked Pnut what she learned in Sunday School.  Usually she says she can't remember and eventually gives us an answer, but this time she answered right away: "Jesus died on the cross and rose again to save us from our sins!"  She was thrilled with this:)  So am I!

Anthony and Laine came down with Eric, but sadly Randa had to work.

They got there like 15 minutes after our girlies laid down and had to wait for them to get back up.

Pilly got up first, and Laine followed her all over the place.

Finally everyone was up and we could proceed with the afternoon.  Speaking of which, Mom, you should change your profile picture to this year's Easter picture instead of last year's.

Okay, ready, set, go.

Pilly proudly displaying her one egg to Pap that she had collected so far.  Pnut was very excited about her first egg as well.  They went to an Easter egg hunt last weekend and only got one egg between them so this was exciting stuff!

Pnut was really sweet and kept pointing eggs out to everyone and sharing them.

Pilly was a good little hunter.

Then they counted their eggs, and Anthony sweetly gave four of his eggs to Pnut.  She ended up with 12 and him 11. 

Then harassment by crazed-looking uncles went on and much silliness happened.

jump when no one is looking and you are not supposed to anyways because you are too small and get hurt so your daddy has to comfort you!

By the end of the evening, they were all pretty tuckered out.  It was run until you drop pretty much!  We had a wonderful afternoon!

My sister Kacy was also there, but she managed to escape all of my pictures.  She is sneaky like that!  So today was Randa's birthday and the 10th is Kacy's.  They are four years and five days apart!  And they sometimes got to have off school on holiday for their birthdays...I never got to have that!:)  Happy birthday guys!

Happy April Fool's!

This morning, Pilly tipped over the towel tower into the bathtub while the girls were in the bathtub.  Thankfully only three extra towels fell in.  Our clothesline was full!

I also had an April Fool's triumph today:)  Many years ago, probably 13, my mom told me the library burned down.  Now, if you don't know me very well, you may not know that I love to read.  I was a frequent patron of the library.  I was devastated by the news and cried, and surprisingly enough, I was not that pleased when she told me April Fool's!  So today I called her while she was at work.  I was just going to let her a message but she answered so I told her the library burnt down. "Really!  Which one?!"  "The Milroy one."  "Really?  That is the second time!"  "The first was when I was younger?"  "No, back when it was a firehouse."  "I have something else to tell you....today is the first day of April."  "Ohhhh."

She doesn't even remember playing that trick on us!

The girls and I had our first picnic at the playground today.  It was absolutely beautiful outside and if this kind of weather would last all summer, I would be in bliss!  We took a long walk with that dog this evening and now he is zonked!  The girls were pretty tired too. 

Tomorrow we are headed to my in-laws for the morning and afternoon and back here so Lyn and I can go out to First Friday:)
